Intrauterine insemination - IUI information and international destinations
During an intrauterine insemination procedure also known as IUI, sperm is injected directly into the uterus to help in fertilization. This procedure is less intrusive and affordable than IVF.
The IUI method helps in boosting the quantity of sperm that goes into the fallopian tubes, which makes it easier for the egg to be fertilized. Before the IUI treatment, some patients might begin with ovarian stimulation. The process is performed around the time of ovulation and on the day of insemination, the man will offer a sample of semen. The semen will then be cleaned, resulting in a concentrated and healthy sample of sperm.
When the sperm is prepared, the patient will lie on an examination table while the doctor opens the vaginal walls using a speculum to view the cervix. The sperm sample will be inserted into the uterus via a catheter. It is advised to take a pregnancy test two weeks after this procedure.

Who are suitable IUI candidates?
If a woman has hostile cervical mucus or mild endometriosis, intrauterine insemination is suggested. When a man has a low sperm count, reduced mobility, or ejaculatory problems, is suggested.
Should I use hormones to stimulate my ovaries?
Every case and body is unique, so although some people can choose to go without medication during an IUI, others might decide to do so in order to improve the development of healthy eggs.
What should I do to be ready for IUI?
We advise lowering your levels of stress and anxiety, maintaining a healthy weight and diet, drinking less coffee, and quitting smoking, drinking, and using recreational drugs.
How often can I try IUI?
Before trying an IVF procedure, 3 to 6 rounds of IUI are recommended. IUI and IVF procedures, however, can be emotionally and financially draining.
